Four Ingredient Chocolate Cake

7 ounce semi-sweet chocolate

7 ounce soft butter

1 cup sugar

4 eggs, separated

Fresh whipped cream (December 18, 2010 post as follows)

 

Melt chocolate over hot water.  Add butter and stir until smooth.  Add half the sugar to the egg yolks and whisk the mixture until pale in color.  Beat in the chocolate mixture.  Beat the egg whites to soft peaks, gradually add the remaining sugar and fold gently into chocolate mixture with a rubber spatula.  Pour batter into buttered 8 inch round cake pan.  Bake in preheated 375 degree oven for 40 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in center comes out clean.  Allow cake to rest at room temperature for 10 minutes before serving.  Serve warm with fresh whipped cream.
